It seems to me that something would always go wrong every time I go shopping with coupons. Despite spending so much time planning my scenario and making my list, somehow on the actual shopping day, something would still go wrong. This list is to help me remember to avoid making them again (and again, and again).
Never lose your coupon binder! :) I know. It's probably just me. Just between you and me, I've lost my coupon binder twice in my first two years of couponing.
Never lose your cash envelop (or coin purse). Again, it's probably just me. In one of my CVS shopping trips I saved about 30$ and lost my coin purse with about $40 bills and change. Not a good way to shop I tell you.
Double check the prices of the items (ALL of them) to make sure that what you have on your cart are the ones on sale. It would be a hassle to run to the shampoo aisle to get the right item while you are in the middle of a transaction.
Double check that your coupons actually match your items. I was one day, handing a Triaminic coupon for a Dimetapp purchase. If I made a final check before heading to the cashier it would have saved me a lot of trouble.
- Avoid changing your plan on the fly. Stick to your list as much as possible. If you are purchasing to submit for a rebate, it is important to note that on your list. I messed up my rebates once because I failed to put a note. Then while at the store I did not stick to my plan. When I got home I realized I have put two rebate purchases in the same transaction.
Now all I need to do is to print this out and stick it to my coupon binder. (with my contact info... just in case I lose it again)
Let me know if you have any more tips for me. Thanks for dropping by.
